I'd like to know where you all get your jdm engines from and if you're satisfied with what you got. I want a low mileage jdm engine, I know there's some shops online selling them, but I've head of a couple that rip people off, so who's got the best feedback?

If you want to be different, and happier, check out the H23A on HMO. $200 more than H22A, and makes more TQ about 4-500rpm sooner.
My friends i/h/e H23A made 163wtq on the same dyno i/h/e H22As made 140-145wtq.

 

The tigerjapanese motor was the customers decision. We tried to coax him into an hmotorsonline unit, but he was short on funds. He was one of the lucky few.

 

Not that I would make a single $ from the sale, but I have bought 2 and "middled" another 8 or so from my local place. They come right from Japan in a container.
This place is Chicago's largest Import Engine dealer.
I don't even think they have a website, and phone communication with the owner is impossible(language barrier, Chinese)......Whenever I have gone there, he is happy to see me, and walks me into ENGINE HEAVEN to pick my motor out! Too add they are always from AUTOs and that makes me happy!
I also bought 2 JDM D15Bs from him........1 threw a rod, but that was my 9000rpm mistake!

If I had to guess, this guy buys motors by the container load....Probably pays $3-500 for an H22A including the cost of freight.
I wonder what you can buy a JDM H22A for in Japan......$250?

 

I'm thinking about getting the usdm version, it's cheaper and well since I plan to boost around 7lbs next year, it think it'll like the turbo better since it has lower compression. Thanks for the help everyone!

 

One more thing I forgot to ask, would it be better to get the 92-96 or 97-01 vtec? I got a 93si
I thought about the H23vtec but I like power steering, plus you can't even use the IM it comes with, but we'll see.

Picked out my H22 from their warehouse and it's been wonderful. Even came with a Tanabe Limit-AX header. Bonus.

i ordered my h22 from TJ. The motor itself was not in the shape as described or pictured on their website. However, it ran ( and still runs ) good. For the 690 price tag, i was satisfied. From what i have read since the purchase of my motor, i was one of the lucky ones.

 

HMO for the win.

my h22a got here quick, and the guy is really nice, i almost talked him into selling me the typeS motor for the same price as the black top, he said he would but he was out of them at the time.
