Default headgasket blew? need new head

i blew my head gasket and the shop told me the head needs to be rebuilt for $1200 i got the head gasket repaired but need a head really soon. I found a rebuild f22b2 head on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA...Q5fAccessories) for 250 but was wondering whats the best (direct bolt) head to go with the f22b2 besides the stock one? thanks

i don't know what you'll find the H22 head for, but if you're planing on boost, you would be fine with the $250 rebuilt F22. you could put the money you save back into the turbo set up or something like that. (and have cheaper everything if you ever need to replace or upgrade valvetrain components)

That's some great advice. Good way to save some money and put it into something else later!

how hard is it to replace and head and i guess i would have to replace the head gasket again. The shop told me $900. Wouldn't it be easier to swap the engine with a jdm DOHC f22b with like 50,000 miles. If i do swap would everything fit or do i need to her another transmission or any other part. plus how is that engine for boosting

you could do an f22ax head since they have great flow. they came off of the 4th generation accord. but then you would need a different exhaust and intake manifold.

yea i know but the ironic things is that i just bought a new magnaflow catback and header last month, just need something that will fit about right, might just have to swap the engine look like it

man for that price you could just get a used motor, a rebuild kit and a nice engine stand... yeah, definately easier to swap.

with single cam honda motors, i always consider replacing the motor when the head gasket goes before i look into fixing the blown motor. (last i checked F23A1 VTEC motors are selling for less than some of the 94-97 F22s! look around and see what you can get for that kind of money..)

Lets put it this way, stop asking the shop. Ask your HAYNES MANUAL. Anytime you go to the shop they're gonna make you grab ankles. Replacing head is easy.
