After Clean shit dont work! help!
so i just degreased and power washed my whole engine bay..after i went to drive it home cuz i did this at my work.......its a b16 and vtec engaged in 1st gear the first time i took off but it hasnt since the ride home..so vtec dosnt engage ....the trip/odom dosnt count miles or .1 miles on the white piece...and on the spedometer it isnt going up lol..so wut sensors did i **** up or wut do i need to check for these 3 things
maybe u got water in the vtec solenoid and fried it when the water was in it and it turned on? the spedometer and odometer are gonna be the same thing. im new to hondas so im not sure where the wheel speed sensor is but it probly got disconnected from there
its always a good idea if you're going to pressure wash your engine to do it when you have time to let everything dry thoroughly before running the vehicle...just for future reference. vehicle speed sensor could have shorted out. check for codes
well your car can run without a working vtec solenoid. what i was saying is when you made vtec engage was when it could have fried the vtec solenoid and thats why it doesn't work. i would take it off and let it dry out first
so you pressure washed your engine bay while the car was running? theres a good idea... thats a good way to crack the block, you shorted out the VSS...when the VSS doesnt work VTEC doesnt work....again.

someone lied to you about you NEED to do it while its running...youre the one shorting out your VSS. Replace it, if you have a B series i know a new aftermarket denso VSS is about 100 bucks. GL
Unplug your VSS. I'm guessing you don't have the rubber seal that keeps water out on the plug anymore. If you see water down there, use compressed air to blow it out. If you don't hvae compressed air, remove the VSS and turn upside down. Spray down with WD40 to displace the rest of the moisture. Use WD40 on the connector end of the harness. Put the VSS back in and plug it back in. Go drive the car.
LOL! Hot water isnt a change in temp? you do realize how hot your motor actually runs? The COLD side of your Coolant runs 200 degrees alone, You got a pressure washer that boils the water?
If you didnt crack the block your hella lucky, i still would think it weakened it.

Thank you KP..and yes its a pressure washer that shoots very hot water..its called a hotsy so again ...u cant crack the block unless its ****ing the winter and i try doing that
I stand by my reply. I guess you could pull the dash and headliner but I'm pretty sure the problem will be located in the VSS plug and it will have water in it. The VSS is on top of the trans towards the firewall. It is a 3 wire plug. Unplug it and fix your problem.
you know nothing about science do you? try this for yourself, get some glass really hot and put it in cooler water...the glass will break. same thing with your hot block. I had a D15 in a '90 hatch that this happened to, just because the OP is a retard, doesnt mean this cannot happen. Again, im not the one ****ing my **** up when i clean it am i?
The post is about his speedo not working people, not his block cracking. Also, I have not seen any production car with a glass block. Try this: Take a piece of aluminum and heat it up to around 220 degrees F. Now, drop it into ice cold water. What happened? NOTHING.
Apples to apples comparison people. Just because you can shoot your gun through a regular house window doesn't mean you can shoot a hole through a piece of 1" plate steel.....

depends on the firearm..and who said the block was glass? ive cracked a d15 block this way... either way, i didnt mean for this to go this far. But again, OP, you probably either shorted out VSS or it could just be a the random chance that it just went bad. How many miles do you have on your car??
so op have you found the problem yet? and im not sure about cracking an aluminum block, but i do know cold water on a hot cast iron exhaust manifold can crack the **** out of it. my poor old chevy. i guess cleaning the motor with a hot pressure washer would be better if the motor were hot.. i just pressure wash my motor cold and turned off with a normal pressure washer tho, and put plastic over the dizzy
A LOT of stupid people on honda tech. Blocks are extremely thick aluminum, hense DENSE and not like glass, and if that was the case then in the winter when you started your car on a extremely cold day your block would crack. Check your connectors going to your VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR. check your connectors/wiring to your vtec solenoid. Apply voltage to it with a power probe or jumper wiring to see if the solenoid activates. and for all you retards who think you'll crack your block because you poured 120 degree water on our block while its hot need to go by a 5.0 mustangs and stop disgracing hondas. please. People come on here for help because they don't know what they are doing. THATS why he's asking for help, but when a bunch of flaming car newbs come up with crazy theories and then make fun of a person who is just asking for help is ridiculous. SO Builtcivic99 check your vss and vtec solenoid. Check for wire breaks and corroded connectors. PM me if you need wiring schematics and component locations, I'm a honda tech and have access to that information.
