Default How Do You Elimate Brake Dust Stains?

So I was talking to my neighbor the other day about the annoying stains some pad compounds leave on a rim even after cleaning, and I was wondering, what would is the strongest cleaner for wheels (that won't dissolve my hands) and leave it all nice and shiny? I've been using Black Magic Wheel Cleaner for eons on my Rota's, but lately the dust created by my Cobalt Friction GT-Sports will not come off, even after vigorous use of force.

Neighbor's Car - Good Clean Wheels Even after caking them in dust. Local high end car place cleans his car, always comes back nice and shiny.

My Car - Ugly wheels, make me sad inside.

Do they have a clear coat on them? Have you tried a non OTC wheel cleaner? What are you using to agitate the cleaner with?

I'm going to assume my wheels do, but I'm not to sure. They still have the original Rota finishing process circa 2003. I have not tried a non-OTC cleaner since I have no idea what I'll be looking for. To agitate the cleaner, I'm using an old towel vigorously used to wipe and scrub.

So I'm kind of short on funds for a $100+ detail but I'll keep it in my mind one day when I can afford my own R8

well I use p21s wheel cleaner gel. It really is the best wheel cleaner I have used to date and I really do recommend it. It's safe for wheels and you can even let it sit on wheels up to 30 min (it starts drying otu at this point) which is something you rarely see amongst wheel cleaners

After you clean them use a paint sealent or some time of wax and it helps protect the finish on them even more and helps dust come off super easy

Try washing them with a higher concentrate of regular car wash shampoo and extremely hot water. After you are done with that hit them with a claybar, claying the wheels will more likely than not remove and brake dust residue so you dont have to polish them. After you are done try using a wheel sealent, or at the very least wax.

In order to avoid brake-dust accumulation wash your wheels a couple times a week.

wash them, clay them, polish them, wash them, put a durable sealant/wheel wax on them, then after every wash put a nice layer of wax or spray wax on them.
