Newbie, lost when it comes to classification.
Hello, just to give some background info I’m in Iraq and I’m coming home in about a month and a half, I want to get into auto crossing but can’t figure out which classes my cars would be in and why. If anyone who is knowledgeable about this help me out... here they are:
93 Honda Civic Dx (coupe), B16 Swap, 17 inch rims, ricey body kit and projector headlights,
96 Acura Integra GSR, original (high mileage) B18C1, B16 Transmission, DC Headers straight back to HKS Exhaust, Intake, skunk2 coilovers, tokico struts/shocks, 16” rims, molded side skirts, mugen steering wheel, shift ****, very illegal tint,
02 Honda S2000, RevHard stage 2 turbo kit, AEM EMS, Work VS-XX’s, HKS Exhaust, pretty much stock other than that..
07 Mitsubishi eclipse (wife’s) – mods include, nightmare before Christmas steering wheel cover and floor mats,
Oh and a jeep lol...
Seriously though, this classification system is so confusing.

Civic - SM (engine swap will put you there right away, provided you have the full interior minus rear seats [this includes the plastic rear panels]; otherwise it'll be...EM or EP? I always get the two confused)
S2000 - SM (or SM2, if that still exists), because of the turbo.
Integra - That transmission puts you somewhere, but I'm not sure where. I'd guess SM, but it might be STS legal. I'm completely unfamiliar with the ST ruleset though.
Eclipse - Whatever stock class that falls in, depending on what motor is in the car (V6 or I4).
Jeep - Illegal, SUV.
Edit: For the future, there is one really good thing to keep in mind when looking at classifications with respect to modifications: "If it doesn't say you can, then you can't." In other words, for A-Stock, where the S2K falls for Stock classing, there is nothing that says, "Can add forced induction system." That means right away you're out of that one.

93 Civic with B16 - SM (like stinkycheez said, full interior must be present BUT rear seats and seatbelts can be removed)
96 Integra GSR - SM - B16 trans swap puts you there. IF any 94-01 Integra came with a B16 trans you could run in DSP, but it didn't. You could argue that B16/B18C5 gearing is the same (I think it is?), and DSP would allow any LSD (or none), but technically it'd still be illegal.
02 S2000 - SSM (formerly called SM2) - turbo kit puts you there.
07 Eclipse - looks like "Eclipse (‘06+)" is classified in GS (G Stock) in the 09 rulebook
All of those classes allow DOT-R compounds, Hoosier A6 and Kumho V710 being the fastest options.
Street Modified is a tough class, though a few FWD cars have gotten close to the top, nationally. You see monster EVOs and some RWD BMWs at the top. Locally you can have a lot of fun, as a lot of underprepared cars of all kinds end up there. In CO we run a regional SMF (Street Modified FWD) class so all the honda guys can beat up on each other.
SSM/SM2 is for 2 seaters- Vettes, crazy Miatas, S2000's
In any case, be safe, have fun, and learn a bit before you start prepping one car or another for autox. I'd run the turbo S2000 if I were you, that'd be the most fun

Run the eclipse for a season on some good tires and shocks. Its a lot easier to learn how to drive at the limit when the limits are low.
The quicker you get experience of gettting the car to and over the limit the better driver you will be. Super fast high grip cars can be left at home for the first season since you already have a starter car. Plus, you should get your wife inovled in with you. Using her car will greatly encourage that endevor.

A few things struck me as "silly" when it comes to classification.
Projector headlights
Floor mats
shift ****
Illegal window tint.
Thanks for making my day. Be safe, come home, and tear up the courses!

The most fun I've ever had autocrossing was in a bone-stock automatic Integra LS
