noob questioin... do ground control top hats drop your car even though you have stock springs??

 

nope, the springs are what do the lowering. When you lower a car 3 inches or so, you may want to consider GC top hats as they allow the shock to sit closer to normal.

 

The GC top hat only extends the shock rod to keep it from bottoming out. When you lower a car, the valve assembly that controls the flow of fluid moves closer to the bottom of the shock body. The GC top hat extends the rod and allows for a lower car to place that valve more in the middle of the shock body to allow for proper shock damping.

The GC top hats do not do anything to lower a car, you need either lowering springs or a GC coilover setup to change the ride height.
