I have a 1998 civic hx with a 1.6 vtec that has a bad oxygen sensor up stream. when i checked my local part stores to by a new one they said that it was going to cost me $375.00 because it is a five wire Oxygen sensor. is there low cost fix or is there any way that i can rewire it so that i can use one of the four wire oxygen Sensors.

 

Our Honda's have some problems with cracked exhaust manifolds. This might be your problem. Pull the heat shield and inspect before dumping $375 for a new O2 sensor.

 

There is no way around it, you need to use the 5 wire wideband O2 on that car. Make sure it's really bad first.
