i see a lot cars integra,si.prelude(on the DOHC VTEC engine only) do this. they take off the plugs cover, what do you get from doing this??

 

Easier access to the plugs and a 3oz. weight savings.

3oz damn i'm getting closer to 300lbs of weight saving

but does it effect the engine, someone told me it's there to cover the plugs and wires
from the heat

 

I bet those covers act move like an oven for the plugs on top of the valve cover, than any sort of protection from heat. I pretty sure honda just put them there for looks.

 

I think many people leave them off cause it makes it that much easier to get at the plugs if your a racer and change them or check to see how the car is running often.

I like the cover though, it makes it look nicer.

 

i wish someone would make a carbon fiber plug wire cover for the h22.. i cant find one anywhere....
