Keeping Alarm Brain?!?! Who wired this crap.
I recently discovered that whoever wired up my alarm did it wrong and I would try to convey how that is but I don't even know. The installer/dealer I had look at it said it had something to do with the wiring, specifically the wire to power and the ignition kill wasn't as it should be and could be the cause of my power loss (if I leave it for roughly over 3 days it dies).
Anyway, is it possible to keep the main unit of my Viper alarm (which I think is a 5300 but I am 50/50 on that, and just have someone wire it right. Money isn't really an object. Or should I just pay for a fresh install of a more up to date alarm.
In addition, my pager is pretty much falling apart and the car only came with one, ha ha. Input, wisdom, and all the above is greatly appreciated.

well yes you could keep the alarm it its still functional...
but they are way to many variables:
- did the original owner buy if from an authorized dealer of from the net?
- is your battery 100% or do you have a bad cell?
...see my point.
you can buy a new harness, remotes and such and have it redone. Way the cost of that vs purchasing a new system.

Sounds like the perfect time for an alarm upgrade. After you add in all the things you need to get this one back to good correct working order it probably won't be much less than a new unit.
Yeah, the guy I boght the car from what a 1/2 assed DIYr and I'm pretty sure he didn't know what he was doing. So, I am going to take it to someone who knows what they are doing and just weigh the costs then. Thanks for the reassurance.
Oh yeah, and the battery is only 4 months old.
