...Well, I did actually, but the battery was dead, and I didn't expect to see anything I'd want to save or share. Also, I was just a little down and only went to the race track (without my car hence down) to hang with friends. It was the "important" Rose Cups at Portland, and very few of my friends were running, and nothing looked all that interesting. But of course it wasn't all that bad, and I enjoyed doing my duty to help create the suitable racing milieu for my best friends son. Over two days I ran into everyone I might have, and had great times chatting with all. Even saw some technical tidbits of interest. But nothing I saw was as good as a prominently parked kinda ratty 240SX with some scripted graphics on the windshield. There was something I can't remember running up aside the a-pillar, but it was pretty generic riceyness. Along the bottom of the windshield was the goodie: "MyPenisHuge". As I passed I noted a female name on the drivers side quarter window and a punked out and pierced but cute and happy gal sitting in the seat. She appeared to be affiliated with one of the Trans-Am teams. I have nothing but good to say about her enterprise - and I don't even know the exact point she was making. Maybe she just wanted to make people laugh.
There was some pretty good racing. The Trans-Am field was pretty light and the the hardware itself utterly without meaning to me. The Porsche Cup race was really good. All the local club guys in less than GT3 type hardware got a split start and I watched what must have been the genius of the weekend horse around his older 911 variant thru alot of tail out action as he relentlessly worked thru the pack. By my understanding his success in control was theoretically, mathematically, and NineElevenally impossible. I stand in awe.
The one thing I saw of any direct personal relevance was an ex WC Dodge SRT4 marked for STU. I've been planning on running STU when I start up again, and reflexively thought upon seeing this thing "Don't these have Turbos?". Yes, they do, and this one did. I checked the times and he's not completely out of reach. Hopefully he has to weight 3000 lbs. I checked the GCR and ex WC-TC goes to STU, so it is what it is.
Scott, who is really missing racing...nothing else can quite fill that need...
