Default My goal: To pull away from the 2009 Cobalt SS Turbocharged

First off, I work on cars for a living, and have done so since I was about 11 years old. I've been around. Turning wrenches is putting me through college.

I've got a 2000 model Integra GSR with a B16 bottom end, but it retains the GSR head, intake manifold, and cams. It has an aluminum flywheel, and that's it. The static compression ratio comes out to be something like 10.7 to 1. I only run 93 octane fuel. The B16 bottom end has approximately 80,000 miles on it. I've been a nitrous guy from day one, but nitrous isn't going on this particular car since it is a school car. However, my new goal is to beat the newest Cobalt. I drove one and didn't like it. I always wanted one and now I surely don't. Didn't seem like a fun car to drive. The motor laid over entirely too early in the rpm range. I already have a car that's paid for, and it would be stupid to buy a car that would leave me with a note, and being a car that doesn't please me only makes it more stupid.

Here's the deal! I've been tossing and turning over the idea of JRSC and a simple header. I also got to thinking about a simple turbo setup, but i'm gonna stretch the supercharger idea a little further before abandoning it completely. Anyhow, I think 6 or 7 psi from a JRSC is the max. I can't risk getting wicked with my school car, but the older Cobalt SS's had superchargers and it was reliable also. However, they did have a cooler for the supercharger. Overall, my guess is that since the Integra is a little lighter, maybe has better gearing, and can turn more rpm's, it will be capable of beating the Cobalt with even 20 or so less horsepower. Not sure, but it could be interesting.

Do you guys think the Jackson will put me in the same league as the Cobalt SS Turbocharged, or do you think i'd be wasting my time and would always get pulled on by the Cobalt?

Thankyou in advance.
