Default Question about my 2008 Honda Civic EX

I own a 2008 Honda Civic Ex and for the past 3 weeks I've been smelling a mixture of gas, burning rubber and burning plastic coming out of my vents. For the first 2 1/2 weeks I let it slide because there were no indicator lights on. I finally gave in and took it to the dealership where I purchased the vehicle, sat there for an hour and a half for them to tell me nothing was wrong. That same night I started smelling the mixture again. So, I asked one of my good friends who is a mechanic to see if he smelt anything. He said he smelt it but when he looked under the hood he didnt notice any problems. To this day, my car is still smelling of the mixture. However, I only smell it when my car is going at least 40mph and the a/c or heat aren't on when I smell it. The car is only a year old and I've tried everything to figure it out before coming here. Has anyone experienced the same thing? Would anyone know what might be wrong, because apparently the licensed technicians at Honda can't figure it out.

Thanks to everyone in advance.

Havnt heard of the problem before. keep checking around tho. are you sure the smell is not coming from inside the cabin of your car itself? like spilled gas in trunk or something like that?

I thought it was coming from the inside of my car but I smelt it the strongest when I checked my vents.

Is your a/c setting set to fresh or recirculate?

I recommend the fresh setting for when you are starting your car on a hot day when the outside air is cooler than the inside air. Once the car starts to cool off I switch it to recirc. The only time I really use frsh is during winter, defrost, or when I want more outside airflow inside in conjunction witht he windows/moon roof being slightly cracked open.

Try using the recirc setting and see if this problem is eliminated.

Additionally having the a/c set to frsh all the time will cause your filter to become dirtier quicker and some a/c tech claim that it stresses the compressor more. I do know the air doesn't get as cold with the frsh setting too.
