O2 sensors for the D16 motor are all the same diameter and will fit any header that is made for the D16.

If you are referring to the length of the wiring from the O2 sensor to the plug on the wiring harness...either cut the wires and solder on some more wire extending the length or purchase a new O2 sensor with a longer wires.

Most universal fit O2 sensors require you to splice the wiring with the stock plug. So, there is no reason that you couldn't cut the existing wires and splice in extra wire on it like you would a universal replacement.

I think that the wires are approximately 16 gauge. I wouldn't use anything smaller than those that are already on the car...obviously. Just pick up some 16-18 gauge wire and make sure to solder. Some enthusiasts will just use wire nuts or electrical tape and leave it at that. Fact is, you want to make sure that the wires are fully "welded" together otherwise, they won't send the power required to heat the O2 sensor or retrieve the signal from the sensor. Please, make sure to use solder.

You can get a good 30 watt soldering iron and some solder from either HomeDepot or Radioshack. You'll spend about $20 on the iron and solder but it makes all the difference.

You'll be fine, and if your old sensor was rusted in badly, it's probably a good idea to buy a new one anyway.

your car will run fine with only one sensor, but may throw an emissions CEL or a sensor malfunction CEL

instead of lengthening the wire, it may be possible to strip teh wrapping of the harness back a bit and reroute the wire.

pictures if you may, or what header, etc..
