I know this mught sound crazy, but I am looking at buying a scooter and would like to make a custom exhaust for it, but I dont want to pay the $400-500 they charge for a damn exhaust, so I was wondering if there are any writeups on making mufflers, because I think it would be easy to just use some 2" stainless pipe for the can, and 1" or whatever the peashooter piping size is and drill holes in that the fill it with fiberglass wool, I don't know just thinking out loud (62 hrs of work in 5 day, kinda loopy) but if there is any info that anyone has, post it up.
of course you can fab up your own exhaust can.
look on ebay for Perforated Tube. i know there is one seller on there that always has some tubing for sale for rather cheap.
then just get some larger tubing for you casing, and make some endplates. weld one end on. stuff in your fiberglass or stainless wool, and then weld on the other end cap.

I welded one for a dirtbike. I used the core from another aftermarket muffler that had a damaged case. There was stainless wool in the first half and fiberglass in the rear. FWIW the kid said it was the best sounding one he had tried on that engine.
