Koni/GC Noise Issue
Hey guys, so I just installed a new set of Koni/GC's for my EF.
My problem is that there is a squeaking noise coming from the rear suspension.
The package I bought came with the extended tophats in the front but I had to use my stock rear tophats with stock bumpstops. Now I think I've narrowed my problem down to one thing.
So when I installed everything, the only thing I decided to not do was to cut my stock bumpstops in half just for the fact that the front bumpstops that came with the extended tophats were huge. It makes sense to me that the noise is coming from the shocks not having that extra space from the bumpstops.. but before I tear it all apart again I was just wondering could this be my problem?? Or would I just be ****ing with something that has nothing to do with it.
PS. Yes this noise did start RIGHT when I drove on the suspension the first time.
TIA

A couple things you could try:
A) Drive around some more. Since you just put them on, everything may need to settle in some more so give it some time.
B) Raise the rear in the air, loosen the top lock nuts for each shock shaft, lower the car onto the ground and retighten nice and tight and see if that does the trick.
C) The ground control kit comes with bushings. Did you replace the bushings on the stock top-hats or re-use the old ones? If you re-used the old bushings, you might also want to replace those with the new ones and see if that works.

Updates... So I did cut the bumpstops, and still the noise. I did B) of what "1200 Hobos" did as well. But now there is something weird... Ground Control most likely screwed me on the bushings because I didnt receive any.. So I may spend the $$ to go to Honda and replace the tophat bushings.
I also got a friend to ride in the rear and he said it comes mainly from the DRIVERS side.. But everything is the same on the drivers side just as the passenger side... so I'm really confused by this.. HELP!! The noise is just really annoying.
Would love to hear any more responses!!!

When you tightened everything on the rear suspension was the suspension preloaded before you torqued everything? (in particular the bolt from the rear shock to the lower control arm)
Does it sound like it's coming from the top or the bottom of the suspension?
Okay, so it wasn't the perload... Redid the suspension and the noise is still there.. So I'm guessing its the tophats and will most likely buy new GC tophats or new bushings..
Oh well, $1400 suspension, whats another acouple hundred to fix a problem that shouldn't be there.. -.-

Also, after messing with suspension, it's possible that other bushings start making noises. Check your TA bushings, they're most likely on their way out and could be the culprits. If they look like they're torn, ripped or cracked I recommend changing those out aswell while you're working on suspension.
