Default My first paint/exterior build.

Wasup HT this is gonna be my first time painting a car/doing body work. The car Is a 91 crx dx the original color was celestial blue pearl but the clear coat was super faded so I rattle canned it black.

when I very first got it. I was the happiest 16 year old. I though my car was the **** haha

Then I rattle canned it

This is how she looks now

Now Its time for some real paint
Some of the supplies harbor freight baby. Prolly gonna go with a different gun though

some Problem areas.

Im not too sure on how to go about fixing the rust/dents by the handle?

Started removing some trim panels and sanded with 220 grit on the orbital sander.

Sanded the dings to the metal now I just gotta put the bondo on. I cant seem to get the mixture right. I mixed the first batch and in like less than a minute it got hard and crumbled up as I applied it. Ill get it though.

Im gonna be asking some questions but Ill keep updating this so check back and thanks for looking

every golf ball sized blob of bondo... use about 1/2-3/4 inch strip of hardener.

dont pre-mix it... like wait till you're ready to apply, then mix it and apply as smooth as possible

currently your car is sanded and its blue/black/grey all over... that means you have different layers of unevenly leveled paint. when u paint your car you could risk it coming out wavy.

The Grey Is oem primer and blue is also oem. Black is my rattle can job and the white was when I was experimenting with spray paint on the right door/fender. I think Im gonna sand it back down to blue and prime it from there.

I barley have any time to work on her, but I managed to get some more sanding and bondo done. I need a little advice though. After I get the bondo on the metal there seems too be some tiny pinholes. I even used a little bit of the glazing putty but it seemed to have the same effect. Isnt there some kind of primer thats supposed to fill these tiny holes or am I just making a big deal of this? heres a pic, cant really tell from it though.

All I have to do next is fill these dings and im done with the body work so far.

And she will be ready for primer.

Heres my CF hood Im thinking of wet sanding it and shoting it with the clear I get with my paint. godd idea?
