what would i need to put in a new one? was told i have to weld a new on is this true?

No you dont have to weld anything, it's bolted on. take off the bumper, remove the hood latch and cables, i believe 4 bolts on top and one underneith the car. then just "finagle" it out.

well if you were replacing it yes, but since it was damaged you might. cant tell you without seeing it.
