Mini me/ swap question
I have a 99 honda civic dx with a d16y7 so I was just going to throw a y8 head on it and I was under the impression that I could just use the y8 ecu which I believe is a p2p and just wire up vtec. But someone told me I would have to wire in a knock sensor as well which means drilling holes into my block... Is this true? My other question is I also have a z6 block that I am rebuilding and I was going to put the y8 head on that. other than the headbolt thing where I use 9 z6 and 1 y8. what else would I need to make it run right? and the y8 ecu would work for this as well too. Right?
no its not true. if its a vtec ecu it will work. do yourself a favor and buy a obd1 vtec ecu and get a obd2a to obd1 conversion and you dont have to worry about other sensors. just bolt the head on and wire vtec and then spin a bearing
