Default Awesome news from Acura Dealer....

I went to Brunswick Acura (NJ) to get a couple of maintainence parts for my integra and the salesmen who sold my car to me came up to me and we started bsing and what not......He showed me some bulletins from American Honda...one about the new TSX that will be out later this fall or spring and the other two........One being about the performance package for the RSX (old news) and the other not really a bulletin but dealers are lobbying for the DC5R for fall 2003 (2004) year. No bullshit, Acura intended to have 3 models for the RSX just like the integra. They know that this R if it comes out will have trim levels...one being plain like the older DC2R, the second trim level would include HIDs with the black headlight housing, Recaro seats and...brembo brakes calipers. Those were from his mouth and he knew what he was talking about. He estimated the price to be around 25k for the plain model R and 28-29K for the full performance version. Alot of cash but id bite on the plain model and find the other parts for cheaper.

Well that is shitty that they are going to offer 2 levels of the ITR kind of kills its race inspired one of a kind look. Looks like the DC5R is going to be everywhere when it comes out in two different trims

It's from the dealers mouth.

Sounds like a plan to me, hopefully it's true!

it sounded too detailed to full of crap, and the dealers get what they want. After all they keep American Honda afloat

Guys working at dealerships know as much or less than the general public.. i never have figured out where this misconception that any of them know a damned thing came from.

-Dave, who would not be horribly surprised if the DC5R was sold in NA eventually, but wouldn't be surprised at all if it wasn't.

why even bring this TSX when it's so close to the TL, or is the TL being replaced by the TSX?

yshi - who will be suprised if they do bring the full DC5 as sold in japan (hi comp engine, brembos, recaros, etc..) to the US

the TL is staying. They want to redeisgn for the 2004 model year. The TSX is going to be the in between of the RSX and CL/TL. The engine should be smog legal, look at the s2000 (11:1 compression) it has ulev rating in cali

I have been told at dealerships here in the Chicagoland area that an RSX-S could wipe my ITR clean off the planet in acceleration, top speed, braking, handling, etc. I mean serious arguements with uninformed salesmen. More than one, actually, about three times now. Are you serious? Wierdos. Then he proceeded to ask about my car, which of course proved that his entire argument about 'how great' the RSX-S meant relatively nothing, since he had no clue what he was comparing it to. (this is not an RSX-S bashing)

My point is this: I wouldn't believe much a salesman said at an acura dealership without some sort of documentation or honda/acura publication. Show me something of the plans for these two DC5-R's coming to the US. They shoot from the hip (at least 50-75% of them, if not more) with all kinds of bs.

It would be excellent if there was even one trim level of the DC5-R, let alone two! I just don't believe it. I'd like to see where he got that info from, I guarantee he has no official publication, no written documentation to back it up. Sorry to be so pessimistic.... I've heard way to much wierd stuff from honda/acura salesmen.

Edit: I need to learn how to make coherent statements.

Your right he could be bsing, but why bs when there not even here. People didnt think there was going to a Civic si and it came out rather quickly. As far as trim levels, its a $$$ thing..people will pay 3500-4000 more the car when the actual parts cost maybe 1500-2000. No bulletin on The RSX-R just that Acura dealers are pushing American Honda to step up due to the coming release of the Lancer EVO, Nissan Z and other cars

No the Type R won't be comming because Megatron said Honda will have to make new emblems which would cost Honda a pretty penny and it's not worth it for them to bring it over because of the emblems

HAHAHAHA

That is the most rediculous thing I've ever heard

so was the previous generation. How much hp do you want? If they did that it could hurt RSX sales

I'll believe it when I see it.

The salesman at my dealer told me that a leprechaun in his backyard told him to burn things...

If it is true, i'm glad that some dealerships are lobbying for the DC5-R. That's great. We'll see, I guess....

Thats cool......Im just like the rest I'll believe it when I see it. BUt isn't this exact same thing before the DC2R came out here in the US? At first we were, then we weren't and then we were? He didnt say we were getting it, only that the dealers are lobbying for it (read the context clues), and they always get what they want.

the price (msrp) will be around ball park of $26-27K depending on how every dealer marks them up (most likely).

It will NOT be 17'inch wheels.. still 16' inch with different rims..for now.. BUT then, who knows specs tend to change.

and yes.. I use to work for Acura.. where I saw honda's 5 year schedule.

i think all he is saying is that the dealers are getting together and ASKING TO BRING THE THING OVER not that IT IS COMING OVER. even a monkey can relay that info.

I'd see them doing something like this (bringing over a DC5-R), near the end of the body style's lifetime as an image car (like the original ITR)!
