Default BLOX tuner series FULL coilovers

I know everyone is goin to tell me to go with GC/Yellows but was just wondering if anyone has experiences with these coilovers.

Are these the type that you can adjust height without messing with preload?

from the looks of them they look like the ride height can be adjusted without messing with the preload

I've never had these high end coilovers before and was wondering how do you adjust the height without messing with preload? Are you suppose to turn the mounting leg then use the two smaller collars to lock it in place cuz I really don't see how just turning the two smaller collars can lower or raise the car.

Those coilovers can be adjusted without messing with preload. What I did on my EF was preload them once prior to initial installation. After that, you don't have to mess with the preload stuff. Just loosen the 2 lower lock collars and rotate the collar clockwise to lower the vehicle and counter-clockwise to raise the vehicle. Once you like your height adjustments, you can simply lock both lock collars into place. Easy stuff.

In terms of overall quality, they are pretty similar to the omni power street full coilovers. I personally love the way my car rides with these coilovers. Good luck.

what do you mean he took 2 collars off? 2 threads off the collars were filed down? 2 lock collars were entirely removed?

you only turn the orange part that attaches to the front forks and rear lca .. like you turn the whole orange part and its goes up and down because the shock body is threaded as well as the orange part. hope this helps.

how do you expect to turn the orange part once its bolted to the car?

there are two black collars that lock the spring in place. once they are locked on the coilover you can turn the whole assembly, including the spring to change height. the whole assembly threads down into the orange piece. so you arent changing the length of the spring, just the height. thats considered preload. the springs stay under the same pressure at all heights rather than having to over-compress the spring when lower. the bottom black ring is locked with the car on the ground to lock everything in place.

these are basically exact copies of the omni coilovers, which ive used on 2 cars with no problems

technically, no he should not do that. 1. it eliminates the preload feature. 2. is doesnt sound safe because there is no way to lock the collar to the strut body. gc coilovers use only one collar but they clamp down using a allen screw. in your friends case, without the strut locked, it is probably putting a lot of wear on the threads, if they strip out his strut could because disconnected from the suspension.

dude, don't mess with that crap. I'm 99% sure that's the same Taiwanese-made anodized garbage sold under the names KSport, D2, and Function & Form.

Shocks will probably start leaking within a year. Spend a little extra and get GC/Koni. The Koni shocks will probably outlast the car, no joke.

Do the GC/Koni combo have the preload feature? OR are they so perfectly matched that they ride perfect no matter what height you're at?

keep in mind tho that the saying you get what you pay for is normally true. However Blox coilovers were $700 upon release. the price was probably lowered by almost all the retailers I could find do to weak sales. I bought PiC apexs.

No, Koni/GC does not have separate preload adjustment, because they are basically normal shocks with adjustable sleeves. But the way they fit and work together really makes them a perfect match. Preload doesn't matter anyway unless you plan on getting the car airborne, or unless you live in a location where vehicle inspection mandates captured springs (springs cannot be loose when suspension is at full droop).

Of course they don't ride perfect all the time. If you go too low they will bottom out like any other suspension. If you get springs that are too soft, the shocks will bottom out if you're low.

Just be smart about it and you'll enjoy a Koni/GC setup for a long time. I sold my GC's because my 450 lb/in rear spring rates were just too stiff for my 100-mile daily commute. I still have the Koni shocks, though, and they're still working great with over 170K miles of use on them.

I wonder how many colors the supplier has available to all these manufacterers. Theyre probably going to run out soon.

Wow 450 lb/in rear is too stiff for DD? I thought that was the normal range most DD'ers use. If not.. what would a good front/rear spring rate be for DD'ing if I was to go with the Koni/GC combo?
