Default Need some help for a friend?

I have a friend of mine that for some reason put an extra bottle of tranny fluid in his 2000 accord v6 auto. Well long story short his car doesnt go in reverse and wont drive in D, he has to start in the No.2 slot. Any ideas as to whats wrong, could it be to much fluid??? Thanks

Check the dip stick. If the transmission fluid is above the top of the crosshatched area (or above the top hole for dip sticks with two holes), drain out fluid until it is at the proper level.

Hopefully he used either Honda ATF-Z1 or Dexron/Mercon II/III ATF. If he used anything else, he's in for trouble. The trans will need to be flushed by changing the trans fluid with Honda ATF-Z1 and then driving the car for several miles to run it through the gears - all done three times in rapid succession. At over $7/quart, you're looking at $75 of fluid and two hours of time.

Hopefully the trans isn't bad either, or else he's in for $2800 worth of trouble. '98-04 V6es are notorious for transmission problems.
