it should last as long as it's built right. any motor would last as long as it's built right. i'm doing the same setup with the b16 head and b18c block, except i'm using ctr pistons and probably use ls rods and crank.

im in the process of doing the same swap. i dont have any experience with this setup before but i dont see why it wouldnt last. in my opinion it should be more reliable than a lsvtec or crvtec swap ( im not saying that those swaps arent reliable though)

If you want to do it right take apart the whole motor and inspect piston rings, all bearings, and any other material that has been under stress, and replace them all.

I ask this because someone said this will increased compression? is that true?? i thought this will lower your compression for good boost 9.0:1 maybe 9.1:1 i never done this build before that why i ask before i start! and P.s,. what is a good transmission go with this build SI tranny or a GSR tranny???

and he try to tell me that b16 head has much smaller vaule then the b18 i like WTF..,.aint is the same,.

A complete stock B18C1 shortblock with a PR3 head is not a "poor man's ITR." In fact, it will make less power than a complete stock B18C1 longblock because the P72 head creates higher compression than the PR3 head.

Unless you use ITR pistons and cams as a minimum, there's no point in swapping heads.

Yeah Because I know that the B16 head flows better then the B18C1 head

Proof? Flow bench charts other than the ancient Alaniz one?

Stock for stock, all evidence shows that the differences are negligible.

This set up will last as long as any other Honda engine out there, just depends how you build it, what parts you use, boost or no boost, and how hard you drive. Any engine will give away if you constantly abuse it. Like I said, all depends how you build it. Use only high end parts, thats just my suggestion.

x2

he is correct, it wont make much difference unless you have ITR pistons and cams. it's a poor man itr you would at least use some ITR internals.

a b16 head is always better because you get rid off the stupid 2 step vtec with the butterflys which causes slow acceluration. most people think just changing the manifold for one with out the butterflys makes it better, wrong it makes it worse
