Default Auto-x footage with GoPro Motorsport Hero Wide

I recently picked up a GoPro Motorsport Hero Wide Camera to mess around with and totry something different other than photography to convey information and entertainment on the website I contribute to (http://theS2000blog.com). My friend Dylan is also dabbling with in-car video and takes a different approach to mine (a more typical setup), so I posted his videos below mine from the same events.

My approach is much less technical as far as driving is concerned but more focused on the entertainment aspect of auto-x videos. Because as we all know, auto-x videos are rarely interesting. We'll see what I have the energy for next time around. I may even take a different approach all together and use this camera for documentation. Suggestions are always welcome.

The sound quality from the camera is either too sensitive and it sounds like the the audio feed is clipping out, or its too quiet. There are some tweaks that can be made but I am not sure if its worth the effort. Next time around I plan on using a digital recorder inside the cabin to grab more decent audio feed. It's no fun if you cant hear the sound of the engine!

Have a look and enjoy, if you can.

nice editing.

i use the Aiptek GVS HD camcorder with a wide angle lens and an external mic.
for autox, i record in 720p@30fps. for TT, i record in 480@60fps during practice sessions and 720p@30fps during timed lap. the camcorder can do 720p@60fps and 1080p@30fps, i haven't try these settings yet because the files will be too large. the video looks so smooth at 60fps though. the camera also has auto focus lock but i haven't use that either. it could help with the focus search but i don't think that a big issue with this camcorder. i'm very happy with this camera so far.

you can see standard def on my website http://gotspeed.110mb.com/video2009.php

you can see high def on vimeo http://vimeo.com/4914851

I know of others who have a very similar setup to yours. No doubt the quality of the product will be top notch from your equipment as compared to the GoPro, however I cant help but enjoy the ease of mounting to the outside of the car, it's size, and no wires, etc. But with that said I'd be willing to take on some cords if i could get better sound

And after looking at your footage and I can now resolve on that assumption. And by the way, I am so jealous of your venues. Ours are small and relatively low speed. Quite jealous of your tracks..
