Yes it will. But the year of your car may limit you to which one you should get. I noticed you posted this in the '88-'91 Civic forum too, so that's why I mention this.

If you car is a '88-'91 Civic, you'll want one from those years. The reason being is that the '88-'91 Civics are cable shifted, and the '92-'00 Civics are hydraulically shifted. You CAN use the '92-'00 transmissions, but you will have to buy a special mount kit for it to work.

If your car is a '92-'95 or a '96-'00 Civic, then you should stick with a '92-'00 transmission (you can match a '92 transmission to a '00 engine and vice-versa). Again, you CAN use a '88-'91 transmission, but you'd have to buy a special mount kit for it to work.

But any '88-'00 Civic D-series transmission will physically bolt right up to any '88-'00 Civic D-series engine.

^ agreed, only diff. between them besides cable vs hydro, would be gearing short vs long... ex. if ur mating a d16z6/y8 motor to a d15b8/b7 tranny would actually kill the point in a upgrade (if ur looking for performance) as those tranny and most d15 tranny has gears for days!
