axles pop out b20vtec in 94 EX ferio
Hi all honda-techer's,
I have a built b20b vtec with a LS tranny right now in a 94 civic 4dr EX.
Story goes:
I USE to have this long block with a GSR tranny in a 95 eg coupe but somehow after putting everything back together, drove around for about 8-900 miles, the PASSENGER axle pops out. I stopped and then pryed it back in and then drove for another 2-3 miles, did it again. I thought the frame was bent, So then at that time, I gotten a good deal on a clean 4dr trade and I took it. Swapped motor out into the 4dr with the same b20v motor and GSR tranny, drove for a bit and then axles popped again. So my solution came down to trading my GSR tranny for a buddy's LS tranny to see if that solves the issue. Please keep in mind that all this is done with Autozone's brand new '95 integra GSR axles! BAMM, after the tranny switch, about 4-500 miles, it pops again. It's not my frame, not my tranny, wtf is it!?!?!??...axles? I'm I suppose to use a different one? PLEASE HELP FELLAS!!! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!!

Sorry, forgot to say. I also swapped over about three axles now and all from autozone and still the same. Too short. I've notice that it streaches beyond than normal. Should I put a 1/4 inch washer between axle and hub and then tighten the axle nut on??.... HELP!!

Won't matter, passenger side on Napa, Advance, Autozone are all the same. They are too short.
ON EDIT: Napa was the best quality, better spring clips, still not the correct fitment though.

Explain the linear damage that could occur during installation that would result in the axle being shorter then when it was taken out of the box? Come on...
I took multiple measurements from the theoretical axis with the suspension loaded and even removed a boot to look at the engagement on the inner CV. I will say, engine placement from aftermarket mounts doesn't help the situation.

well thats interesting.
i wouldnt see you being able to shorten an axle with damage, but they certainly could be giving you incorrect axles.
i have innovative mounts...maybe it makes the axles fit lol.

Not to sound like a douche.. but are you sure that your axel is in all the way?
I have had this same problem myself and it was my own damn fault!
The axel felt like it went in but kept on popping out... it turns out that brand new C-Clips can be rather tight... a little bit of help from a large plastic hammer was all I needed

Nope. I tried install one, my buddy installed one and even a close friend who is a rookie mechanic at Honda even installed one and no damn luck!...F*CK!!!...
Soo, now what options do I have?
there is a lil clip on the end of axle that kinda looks like a c... or d lol make sure it clips in when u put the axel in .. take plastic mallet or woodend and hit the end of the axel where the 22mm lug gose (i think its 22mm not sure ) to make sure its all the way in place ... Is your car lowered alot ???
