Intake & exhaust. . .
Hey guys I am new to all this stuff and wondering if its okay to cheap out on intakes or exhaust systems.... I really don't know a lot about this and any feedback on why I shouldn't cheap out and why would be great. For right now I am mostly concerned about the intake because cold air is better for my engine. If anyone knows of a good ones please let me know
. Also with exhaust systems is it true that most of them have less back pressure from the stock exhaust? Like I said I really know next to nothing and don't really have a lot of people around me to help. I don't know if this makes a difference but I'm driving a 00 SI.

u can cheap out on the intake TUBE, but get a good filter. exhaust... sell ur stock si **** and buy somethin good that sounds nice. u dont need 3 in piping neither.
i have an aem cold air intake and matrix exhaust with stock piping, besides a straight pipe in place of my resinator and it sounds great and runs great as well. i wouldn't really recomend going too cheap on anything, most cheap cans will sound ricey as holy ****.
you should order an ES oval muffler they are only $110 and they sound really good! i have one my self..you can pick up an AEM short ram intake it works fine and a little cheaper price than a cold air... anyways bumP
How long have you owned the car ?
Like you said your new to this stuff. Why don't you save your money for a while and spend your time reading here. Figure out what you really want to do. Most guy's do a turbo, read the forced induction forum for some info there.
Take your time there are a few different way's to go. If you spend money now you may not need that piece in a few months.
I spend a lot of time in the drag racing forum here. A ton of good info there and you can have direct contact with people who use and sell the parts. Find one of the guy's that has a shop in your area and begin to build a relationship with him. Most of the faster guy's are also tuners, then can tell you works and what doesn't.

I have only had the car for 3 months now... Thanks for the tips that is a really good idea
. I don't know if I should supercharge it or turbocharge it. I've heard turbocharged cars are a little more high maintenance....would it be the same thing for a supercharger? I know i could get a lot more out of a turbo but I'm not sure what I want to do yet.
