what's causing my car to do this?
ok heres the deal. every now and again i go to start my car but it wont start, it makes the noise to start when i turn the ignition on but doesnt actually turn on. i continue to try this then let it sit for a bit then try again, it eventually starts but i must slam the gas as i start it up to keep my rpms up otherwise the car will die out again. does anyone know what could be causing my rpms to fall straight down and die out without gasing it? this happens maybe once a week and its irritating me, plz help!
if when ur turning the ignition to start the car and it making the ticking sound. im possitive that it is the battery because my car was doing that. hey try push starting it. thats how i got mine to go on. just have ur stick in second and when ur going a good speed take ur foot off the cluch it should start up
does it do it every time? does it turn over or just click?. could be your main relay going out. or it could be a bad ecu, i had a bad ecu that would start the car fine but as soon as i turned the car off would not start again, had to wait like 5- 20 min to start. got a new ecu starts every time now.. been 4 months

yea i had a bad ecu do the same thing. it wouldnt stall all the time but every now and then. when u would try n start it the fuel pump wouldnt even prime. swapped a stock ecu in n it started every time no stall.
the ignition turns over but just doesnt start. i went to start up my car again and it did so i moved it into the garage. it seems to be happening more frequently now. it cant be the battery otherwise it wouldnt start at all. also all the dash lights come on aswell if that helps
when u turn the key listen if the fuel pump primes. should b able 2 hear it. also if the check engine light stays on with the key turned on. the light should go out within 3 seconds i think
the main relay is a definate explaination. just take it out and pop the cap off and inspect it with a magnifying glass. you will probably find that the solder is cracked. all you have to do is heat up the solder to pool it and resolder it
the alternator is not going to keep it from turning over. the alternator has nothing to do with the ignition and power being sent to the starter. the main relay does and hondas have problems with them going bad all the . one minute the main relay will be fine because of a slight jog and the solder touches. i had a crx that i had to smack the side of the dash where the relay was and it would start right up
