B16 more power
Hey guys I have a jdm b16 with ctr pistons, and I was wonderig what's the best way or ways to get some good power out of this motor while maintaining it as a Daily driver. Plus I was wondering how I might be able to improve my low end torque, it seems a bit sluggish but I've heard that that's just the b16 anyway.

NITROUS!!!!!!!! LOL. No j.k. on y b16, before I went to boost, I threw in a pair of all motor cams and a good tune. With that I was able to beat a buddies ls-v off the line and especially in the top.

yea ctr cams are great ! . i had the same problem as you bro . i have a 2000 em1 and i was all sad cuz my car couldnt keep up(sometimes) lol . but i threw in some ctr cams and cam gears and that problem is long gone lol . still a bit sluggish on hills and stuff but there a good way to make power for a good price . ctr cams ftw !
As everyone is saying, the B16 has pretty much no low end torque, a little bit of midrange torque, and pretty much everything at the top end. That said, there are headers and intakes out there that do boost your midrange torque a bit, but overall....if you want power, rev the **** out of it.
the ctr cams are great. im not sure of the exact specs but they have quite a bit more lift in them than the stockers. I put a small 14b turbo on my b16 at 5 psi and it was like night and day. I had about 300 in the hole kit. I drove it for about 3 yrs untill we put the gsr in it. also just having a good base tune put on your car makes a big difference.
15-25whp is insane you are not going to see those kind of gains with ctr cams... The skunk2 stage 1 cams are more aggressive and yield about 10 hp... The ctr cams should fall slightly under that...
for optimal power gains, a fresh tune with the cams, higher compression pistons, higher-flow injectors, you should be able to yield an additional 15-20whp, if not more. A finely tuned stock B16a motor could yield more to the wheels than an untuned B16a with cams, pistons, etc... It's just plain logical, unless you have mechanical failures elsewhere.
If you're on a budget, grab a chipped P28 and take it to a dyno/tuner and get chrome. Otherwise Neptune and eCTune, and Hondata are your other alternatives.

with the setup ive mentioned, ive seen gains of about 12-20hp at the local dyno tuner maybe wasnt whp but u can def tell the difference... not just the cam: ctr cam, ctr cam gear, ctr pistons and rods, prelude injectors, a tune up; and a GOOD tuner
As has been stated, the B16A is all about the top end and is pretty much an anchor at low RPM. In addition to the cams/gear/injectors/headers already suggested, you could look into a supercharger (Jackson Racing on a budget, Vortech if you have $$$ to drop) if you are wanting more low-mid grunt. While you won't have as much in the top end as you would with a turbo, the supercharger will distribute the gains throughout the entire spectrum, not just the top end. Even with that though, you aren't going to have a B16A that is going to just jump right off the line from an idle start. With that motor, just hit 5500 RPM, then smile.
