Solid CEL! NEED HELP!
When I turn the key on the check engine light stays solid. I check for codes same result. The car runs perfect, except for the fact that v-tec doesn't work. The other thing that is weird is that the car runs at 1300rpm, whether the car is warm or cold. I tried another ecu and the CEL light is also solid. I checked my v-tec solenoid/pressure switch wires and everything was in order there. I checked my temperature switch wires and they are good. Its very strange. It can't be a bad ecu, because it runs perfect. I thought about checking fuses, but v-tec would still work if that was the case right? Any help would awesome. thanks
thanks, but I know how to check my codes. It's not giving me codes, because jumped or not jumped the light is solid. I've had my h22 civic for 3 years and I've always been able to retrieve codes just fine. When i start the car and it is cold it takes a few seconds to start, but when it is warm it starts perfectly normal. I'm thinking maybe my coolant temp sensor wire is grounding out or something.
I've tried that quite a few times and same result. The odd thing is sometimes the light will flicker real quick after the main relay clicks and it does this randomly. When I start the car the light turns off and on and flickers, but I think that is normal.

I have an h22 swap civic, obd-1 p13. The other ECU I used to test for a solid CEL was the P05 from the civic. I reset the codes by disconnecting the battery, connected the wires to the civic P05 ECU, and got a solid CEL still(wire isn't jumped for code checking yet of course). Then I checked for codes by jumping the plug and still solid. Anyways, I went out there and started the car, took the carpet away from the ecu, and moved the A, B, and D plugs back and forth. While moving the D plug the car almost died and the map sensor caused the car to idle up and down. So I restart the car and I missed every now and then randomly. Then when I move the wires again the car almost dies and idles back up. So it has something to do with the wire in the D plung in the ECU. Somes wires must be touching eachother inside the plug, because I inspected the wire going into the plug and they seemed fine. Have any of you guys heard of this happening randomly like this? I also gently moved the whole wiring harness around to see if it was something between the ecu the engine bay and the car ran the same all the time. So should I replace the plug or would that indicate something bad inside the ECU. I took of the cover and found no burnt spots, and also used my P05 ecu to check. What do you guys think?
Just to update you guys. I figured out it was two wires inside the plug frayed out. They were touching each other causing a short. Car runs awesome now, thanks for your help.
