Who is still running their Single Core Radiators?
I am.. ECT sits at 185*F
looking to pick up a 2" thick core from ebay for 50 bucks or so

exactly what i wanted to hear. I have my half rad single core just wondering if its enough.
Do yourself a favor and invest in a nice Radiator/Fan combo. Trust me on this. I have had numerous setups and had cooling issues in few as well.
If at all possible its best to run a full length radiator and two fans(FAL is nice w/shroud).
If you have to run a half, make sure to buy a nice fan with shroud. The ones at Autozone are hit/miss.

Oem full length single row here... turbo is within a few inches of it as it sits pretty close to it with my setup.
Has a turbine blanket from T1 on it and its been holding up great with it, without the blanket you could run for about 30 minutes do a couple hard pulls back to back... and the ECT would start going up and you would have to keep off it for a few to let it cool back off.
Now with the blanket, no problems underhood is nice and does not heatsoak everything in the bay like it did, etc... worth its cost and then some for me. Well spent money. ECT's stay normal and dont fluctuate after hard running for a while at all with it on.

i run the stock GSR rad, stock rad fan (just trimmed the shroud a lil), autozone 12in. no overheating issues. the a/c works good too, although if i am in stop/go traffic for over an hour the a/c wont blow as cold. like someone else said, if u can keep your stock rad with a solid fan setup you should be ok.
this is for daily driving though (stop/go traffic, etc). i can't say how my setup would hold up after several passes at the track on a hot @ss day...

For the longest time I ran the stock Civic small single core radiator with the stock fan, because the turbo would fit in there with the old manifold. I changed my manifold and I could no longer run the stock fan because it was just too big, even with trimming. So I got one of those Advanced Auto slim fans. I think it may possibly flow less air than the stock fan, and I still have not experienced and cooling problems. I have not really driven my car much at all but it has sit and idled long enough to build up some heat, it was sitting in a shop. Still the temp gauge has not moved past where it always sit when it was up to temp. I guess once I get it on the dyno and whatever here soon Ill see if it is going to heat up.
Your using the term "core" wrong. Radiator "core" refers the the number of tubes across the thickness of the radiator. You mean half or full width. Many civic aftermarket radiators are dual core, half width.

but there is single core full width and single core half width as well as dual core half width. For example Del Sol Vtec are half width dual core.

Its kind of like some people like to call the engine the motor and vice versa.......
on a side note, Im curious to know truly how radiators like mishimoto's compare to radiators like Koyo?
in cooling factors. Like could you put a koyo in and would it actually cool better because of more dense fins kinda like a nice garrett core intercooler or would a mishi do the same with not as dense fins.

i dont know how some of you guys run a half rad single core with no overheating. im running a half rad 2" dual core with a 13" spal fan and on the highway the temp is between 210-220 F and my fan comes on on the highway to keep it cool. however i think my ect switch is messed up because my fan turns on at 216 F.
I ran my stock half-size dual core radiator in my car. On track days I would start to see my coolant temp rise after about 15-20 minutes on the track. My valve train was clicking away too. But in normal traffic around town It would be normal. I also kept my stock fan w/ shroud, but slightly cut for the greddy kit to fit.
I think making nice cuts in the bumper would help with cooling and allowing space between the bumper support and the FMIC would help as well.

damn it now im confused but half single!
but overall i just want to see how the OEM system holds with a F/I car.
Seems like its a good idea for me to run a water temp guage to be even more careful...cause even some of you with upgraded cooling systems still have problems while driving the car hard.

you really should change the thermostat, take all the hoses off and look for blockage. maybe try to increase the flow to your intercooler and air in and out of the engine bay.
