Vtec crossover
With the F22B1 VTEC you may not hear any mad VTEC powa crossover. For the simple reason that it wasn't created to make mad HP at higher rpms. It's used to make a more reliable & fuel economic touring sedan.
Valve Timing Change Conditions (aka VTEC Crossover)
Engine Speed: 2300 rpm - 3200 rpm (depending on manifold pressure)
Vehicle Speed: 10km/h (6.2mph) or faster
Engine Coolant Temperature: 10°C (50°F) or higher
Engine Load: Judged by intake manifold negative pressure
ok That explains it thank you very much for the explanation. The car runs awsome I just didnt know if I should here vtec crossover or not. Its the family mobile anyway. One more question how often do these motors spin bearings? I bought an emaculate 94 ex it just has a lot of miles. i bought it from the original owner and he said all the miles are highway I have the full svc history on the car from 94 hell I even have the og window sticker
With a red line of 6200 and a power band that drops off at 4500 rpm. You don't see many F22's with spun bearings. Not to say it wouldn't happen but it's not a common failure on the F series engines that I am aware of.

You should worry about other things before the engine in that car. My 94 is around 217-218k now, and just about everything but the engine/trans are falling apart.
