Icon3 Is it worth it? Need answers quick!

Theres a guy who lives near me selling a 92 lude for $1000, he says he'll give it to me for $800 though.
He says that theres a small oil leak (very slow leak) that looks like its coming from the valve gasket, also that maybe a valve job will be needed. He only says this because of the mileage of the car (135,xxx) so he just says it as a future reference. The only thing he said concerns him is that the timing belt makes a teeny bit of noise and that it could just be loose and need some tightening.
He's only selling it because he and his girl are having a baby and they don't need two cars right now.

Other than that the is very clean and run great, I test drove it through smooth and rough roads and it handles very well.
Sorry there aren't any pictures.

So what do you guys think? Yay or nay?
I just don't want to regret my decision and jump off a cliff.

Say it does need tightening or replacement to the timing belt, would it be a hard job?

yes in the since that its time consuming. To pay to have someone do it is roughly around 300.

If the body/chassis/interior are in good condition, this is a no brainer even if the engine needs to be replaced.

Yup all three of those are good except the tiny dents on the hood.
So I'll go for it I suppose

edit:

a valve adjustment is usually around 100$.

the timing belt should be fine at that mileage.

get the car

I go with the general consensus here... if you have the money to spare, definitely get it. I spent about 3500 for mine, so for the same price you could probably buy that one and fix everything wrong with it for less overall.

Assuming the body/chassis/interior .... as previously mentioned. You get the picture.

lol never thought of that. Yeah. Worse case scenario, sell it for the grand that guy was originally planning on selling it for. There are plenty of people who wouldn't mind taking a project 'lude off your hands at that price.
