Well, as crazy as it sounds, i was hit by a semi.





Im no fool, i understand that large vehicles may need both lanes to make a right... and if it has its signal light as
to make that right, i have no right to make my way to that lane. now, when i came to the semi it was flashing its
hazard lights (emergency lights) so that in no way let me know that he was turning... now i need a little help, there
are cameras at the intersection where this happened... Long beach and 41st, Los Angeles CA. i wanna know if
the damage that was caused should be covered by the insurance of the semi.

going back to the cameras at the intersection... is there any way to watch the video or to review it as kind of evidence
if there is even grounds for action.

there was no police report, both i and the semi driver exchanged info and that's where it ended. he lead me to believe that if i
followed it up i would receive a point on my drivers license and my insurance would surely go up... being that i just graduated
college and am unemployed i cant afford to be wrong. he also told me that the pictures show its my fault... if i had the video i
could show the opposite. after he hit me he put his blinker which pissed me the F**K off.
oh, and my mom was also in the car... right now im really tired, because im having car problems. ill be posting a separate thread for that one.

 

Call the DMV about the camera. ALWAYS call the cops. Call the company's insurance and file a claim. Get ready for them to deny it.

 

even if its your fault you should have a police report done.

i never just exchange info.

unless its a parking lot and they are willing to pay.

here a parking lot is a no fault accident. so police reports dont matter there (unless someone is being a complete jackass)

i havent done anything... i know thats stupid, but at the moment i find my self with little funds. when the police got there all they wanted to make sure is that we exchanged info and then they sent us on our way. this all happened on tuesday, June 2nd.

who should i call? my insurance? DMV?

i dont wanna call the cops because there are more important things than this.

 

not that important but important enough for you to cry online ? man up and handle it already. call insurance. call his insurance and get a rental car already. get a lawyer also

 

your pics dont work, but if the damage is less than $1000, i wouldnt bother with it. I know police officers, and they usually give semis the benefit of the doubt in most cases cause they are so large and have such large blind spots. And if he had his hazards on, they are going to say he was giving you warning and you ignored it.

 

^ Why? He isn't a emergency vehicle. He had no right to take up the entire road and no one has to stop to give him the right of way because he has his hazards on.

 

Its true. if he had his hazards on in the middle of the road, then you had the right of way assuming that he had to yield to you. But then again if you can't get proof from the cameras, then your pretty much screwed because its your word against his and thi3vez said, cops usually give the benefit of the doubt to the truckers.

 

my care is for the most part fine... its only cosmetic damage and a bit unaligned. i dont know if you missed the part about i dont have money, so getting a lawyer is out of the question. i just wanna get my baby fixed.

 

get your pics working and we can tell u if its possible to fix your car.. u can speak to a lawyer for free.. generally they dont get paid inless you get paid.. so cost shouldnt be an issue still.
