Icon6 Exhaust

The question of the day! What is a nice cat-back for a 2007 EX Coupe? I dont want a ricy sound, but a deep throaty sound. No N1's! Any suggestions from the HT World? Thanks

There can never be a deep throaty sound for a civic. I have never heard a small dispacement engine sound deep. I think that would defy physics. I always though the buddy club sounded the most unique and threatening. To be honest I have the skunk 2 70mm and I feel like people laugh at me. I hate the way 4 bangers sound including mine. I know you guys won't like hearing this from me but all joking aside turbos actually deepen up the sound abit because the turbo acts as a muffler in a way. The turbo muffles the exhaust as it passes through the turbo.

My 350z with a 3.5L V6 and duals sounded like a fart pipe too, I didn't like that either.

I never cared for mustangs but their exhaust tone is sweet. You want deep and throaty? Buy a stang, GTO, firebird or anything with a V8. I've never heard a high pitched V8.

Large displacement= Deep and throaty

4 Banger= high pitch fart pipe

I'm not being mean, just saying. I have a car that sounds like it farting too, so I'm not ripping on anyone

No, I understand what you are saying. I agree, V8's have a better sound. And I agree on the turbo sound, my son has a 2000 Si we put a full Greddy turbo system and Greddy Evo cat-back on it and it is perfect (other than the muffler is starting to fall apart due to age) I guess I am just looking for a sound that isnt ricy and cheap/loud. Our engines sound better at high RPM anyway and at idle sometimes. I will find the right system. And I know the 1.8's have a turbo system available now, just have to save up one day! But at 49yrs old, Im kind of aging a little for some things (but at heart Im still a car lover!)

another thing I don't understand is why the muffler shape for imports is always the tube or cylinder style canister? I never see the conventional style oval muffler like OEM and aftermarket domestic exhausts. It seems like the tube style always sound like fart pipes.

What about the World Sport? That has a classic style muffler and is not obnoxious.

Maybe my hatch defies physics but people always comment on how my hatch sounds...even people with V8's

Maybe it does clemson, I'd like to hear it seriously. I haven't heard of that exhaust, I'll check it out. There seems to be a difference of what deep and raspy and ricey mean to all people. When I bought my 3" duals for my Z car, the people that made it said it was the deepest they have heard but I didn't think so.

Not many exhausts are made for the R18.. I would look up the Ti-C (most popular) and maybe vibrant. Only decent ones I can think off the top of my head. skunk2 is really loud, and doesn't sound very good (IMO)

I have the mega power r as well and I actually think it pretty deep in comparison to most 4 bangers. I've gotten numerous compliments on my exhaust pitch. Though these compliments did not come from car geniuses, they were from your average "car guy". I doubt anyone is laughing at you, if anything there just hating. BTW I also have an injen cai on my fa5, im not sure if that has much to do with my exhaust tone/pitch.

You haven’t heard my Si with the Vibrant Catback….It has a nice, deep tone to it. I’m pretty sure the tone is completely determined by the resonators on the exhaust.

Ever hear of Formula 1?

Maybe it’s the turbo charged supercharger you’ve got under the hood

Yeah I've heard of formula 1. They used to be 3.0 liter V10's and just a few years ago I think they made a switch to V8's and probably in the 2 to 3 liter displacement I'm not sure though. So my Z car had a bigger displacement motor and still sounded like a fart pipe
