1990 hatch tranny issues
Hi. I recently completed my first clutch job but something went wrong, and I am looking for some input before I start tearing things apart again.
Car is 1990 hatchback with 4 speed manual transmission. I installed slightly used, but in a good shape exedy clutch and pressure plate, as well as newer throw-out bearing an resurfaced flywheel. I did this with engine out of the car - so I was pretty positive that I aligned things just fine. Well, after I put it back together and got it running I discovered the following:
- impossible to put in reverse (terrible grinding sound when tried),
- squishy clutch pedal,
- I think that clutch is engaged at all times - with or without pedal pressed in, have to confirm that but I am pretty sure that axles spin in neutral.
Thanks for your input.
