Default B20 Vtec w/ Auto Ls tranny

First of all. I'm sick of people trying to convince me to get a 5-speed. Ain't happening, why? Because i can't stand trying to parallel park with a manual and just want a basic DD with a decent amount of torque. Not hp, Mainly Torque.

How possible is this combo?

B20 146Hp 133Trq 9.6 Compression (99-00) From Hmotors online $749.00

Newer LS auto tranny of Ebay
$300.00

As for the vtec, what do i need specifically for a reliable setup. I'm not looking to street race or get new cams...etc..etc. Just a fun DD with torque.

I've searched in the forums, but i've never seen anyone attempt a b20vtec Auto!

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED
(btw i currently have a 94 teg w/ b18b1 auto)

Hopefully my setup will look something like this hot shizzzz nit

So after doing some research i will be buying a auto trans from tigerjapanese for only $160, and the motor from hmotors for $759, after shipping the combo will be up to $1,500.

So i basically have $1000 to put into anything else, like headers, exhuast, cams....
Any suggestions?

I found a thread on team-integra and someone else has already done this with ease apparently. I will be holding off on the v-tec aspect until i have more funds. Just doing the b20 146hp engine + ls auto trans now, but will have some money left over. I need suggestions or any issues i might need to watch out for with this type of swap.

?!!?!?ANYONE?!?!?

You will still may not get the torque you desire since the torque converter makes it a little more mild. Why not just buy an automatic GSR tranny if you want automatic though

That was my first idea with a b18c v-tec, but i was told by the shop that will install it...they won't do it because the ecu is too rare and so is the tranny if anything was to go bad on it. They literally REFUSED. So w/e...i'll be fine with the b20, after my I/H/E, new cam gears i'm sure i'll get what i'm looking for.

Get an Accord Automatic and call it a day. Having a hard time trying to paralle a 5 speed? You need to practice. I get in just fine with my car( dc2, stg 1 clutch exedy, no power steering). Its practice my friend. Touch up on your driving skills and you will be perfect. If you want power in an automatic, well, I suggest a aftermarket torque converter.

As far as a straight B20 swap you can get away with the automatic without any real problems. The B20 vtec however poses some significant problems from an ECU perspective. Remember that there are no USDM Vtec B-series automatic ECUs, this leaves you with the JDM OBD1 P72 automatic ECU, which in theory should be simple enough, use JDM automatic P72, corresponding TCM and tranny, only thing is it uses an OBD2 style EPROM so you can't tune it. This leaves you with converting an OBD1 automatic LS ECU to vtec and tuning it (not sure if the USDM automatic LS ECUs used a normal OBD1 style eprom or not) Your other problem is going to be keeping transmissions in the car. Its been my understanding that honda transmissions don't take well to any amount of power over stock being thrown at them. I understand what you want to do, its just not worth doing in terms of logistics. Its much easier to just swap to a 5 speed. If you can't parallel park with a 5 speed you can't really drive stick, keep working on that.

I agree. It is gonna be hard to make a vtec ecu that will run a auto. Good luck!

Oh i'm not planning on doig a b20 auto vtec lol, it was a question i had like a month ago and someone brought it back from the dead. I already bought a jdm b20b with a newer ls tranny and i just plan on getting some crower 404 or 403 cams and just i/h/e. The torque will be fun, but i don't race or anything so i don't need a overpoering top end.

if you want the auto, do the auto, dont listen to the crybabys on here who insist on manual swaps every time someone mentions auto, some people on here cant understand that some people want automatics. If you have problems with blowing the tranny look into these...

Because hey everyone has $3300 to spend on a tranny for a 3rd gen Integra. The whole point is its not cost effective to run automatic transmissions in Hondas you plan on racing. You could buy 6 or 7 manual B16 trannys for that price. I really don't care if someone wants an automatic, I just wont condone it because logically it just doesn't make much sense most of time unless its a really basic swap meant for a daily driver.

then thats why theres an option to NOT post in someones thread, if the guy wants an automatic, he wants an automatic, help him with his problem, dont ridicule him about how he shouldnt do it, help him out with suggestions and tell him what he needs to know. Do you see how easy it was for me to provide one link to solve all the problems with the auto trannys weakness?

it has nothing to do with driving stick, or needing practice, all it has to do with is whether or not thats the transmission they want to use for their build, how hard is this concept?
