Removing stock '94 Honda prelude radio
I have been trying to remove my prelude's stock radio but always end up getting stuck. I can get off the plastic console that surrounds it all but then end up stuck when i can't get it off. It seems that the e-brake is in the way and because of that i can't take it off. Does the car also need to be in a certain position or can this all be done in park with the car off? I found that i was able to get a little more leverage when i put the car in neutral, with the e-brake up. By the way kinda new to cars and still learning to fix them but when i say e-brake i mean the one right next to the automatic stick in the center console.
You'll probably have to do some playing around with the gear position... you might even have to move it a couple times to get it out. I have a '94 but mine is a manual and i'm not even at home anyway. Someone should be able to help you out, but in the event that no one does, when i get home i'll try to take my console off and offer advice. I've had my car less than 2 months so i haven't done much trying to figure it out, but i've taken consoles off a few other cars, so i should be able to figure it out with some playing around.
the problem is that .. after i have removed all the screws, like in figure 1, the console doesn't come off that easy. It's that manual brake thats in my way. Also my automatic stick sometimes get's in my way. So i don't know if I should mess with taking off the automatic stick(if possible) or the manual brake(if possible). The console panel keeps catching the manual brake which is why i haven't been able to remove it yet.

Unless the Helms illustration is inaccurate, I can't see how the e-brake is in the way. As for the auto shifter, the illustration shows it in Reverse.

Yeah... you might have to bring the shifter all the way to the bottom or somewhere in the middle. Also, if you haven't tried it, make sure your seats are all the way back. It should give you a bit of extra room. These consoles aren't always really easy to get out... but your ebrake cable will have to be up for at least part of this. There might not be one set position for your shifter and ebrake to get this to come out. You might have to move them a couple times during the process.
Make sure you block your wheels.
