ever paint your tail lights ?
has any one ever painted there tail lights.. to get rid of that icky orange color...
i did.. on my 5th gen civic hatch, i taped everything off and got some testors clear red spray paint ( that stuff they use for models ) and sprayed everything but the reverse light ! it looks pretty good ! i suggest u do this instead of buying those ugly altezas ! its a lot cheaper too

Do you mean you painted the stock ones, and you want the original look back, because if that is what you meant, all you need is some paint thinner and about 20 minutes.

i did that like 2 years ago now i want stock 1's so if any 1 wants to trade ill even throw in some red and clears.
does this work the same when you smoke out the white part of the lens on the red/clears for the 99-00 models? Do you just tape off the red and spray the outside of the clear part? Does this not leave a line of sorts? Or do you somehow do it on the inside?
haha i remember way back when that was the big thing...before clear tails were even out. everyone had red tails
i just bought some old school "white" clearish tails for my beater that i'm gonna spray red (except reverse). hopefully it will come out nice. I painted my stock tails, taping off reverse, but made the mistake to go to lowe's and buy red rustoleum brand hobby paint... well.... looks like the lights were dipped in red rubber. came out terrrrrrribly terrrrrribly bad. i'm hoping the white tails will come out nice since i'll have an even base to start with. i'll post some pics when i get done... assuming i pick up a new dig cam this weekend like planned.

man u guys are lame why the **** does it matter that it was so 95 ish these guys are doing what they want and if they do a good job it will look alot better then the Altezza's IMO
I just did this to my hatch tails a couple of months ago, Painted them all red except for reverse, Dammit I really wish I had some pics because they turned out sooooooo perfect, two cans of translucent candy apple red and 3 cans of clear coat, lots of wet sanding and lots of polishing by hand, They turned out smooth as glass, they look absolutely stock. No one could ever tell that they were painted.

thats why you want me to paint yours, right sean? lol
i use transparent red from pepboys...its the second stage of candy apple...just scuff up your tail light with a dish pan sponge(the yellow and green ones) and spray away...for clear tail lights you need several coats untill it looks red, it will be pink for the first few coats....if your painting over amber, just a couple coats will do the trick.
i got pics of mine that i will put up in a day or so.

I bought my car with tinted all red tail lights on my hatch and traded for OEM. Personal taste you can't beat the stock look. But to each there own. I had lots of people saying they liked the all red and semi tinted ones
