my friend and i were discussing this situation. which motor hits vtec harder? which one gives the loudest scream i guess you could say.

Between which motors? What are you comparing? Overall which has the hardest hitting VTEC? It all has to do with the cams as said before. However VTEC engagement should be rather smooth if stock and running properly.

DOHC > SOHC if that makes a difference...

i wouldent want any vtec motor to slam in to the cross over point like the dude said b4 it should be a smoth transition

 

i would say type r dohc > dohc > sohc > d17a2.

but once again..thsi is cam profile.

 

look up some dyno sheets and the answer will be before you.

vtec is a system for motor efficiency, not sound

lol i went for a ride in my friends recently swapped k20 integra. this is out of context but when the vtec kicked in it "put you on blast"..Car was a beast lol. Vtec came on at 4500 and he shifted at 9200. It was wild. Pulled super hard.

I think I'll mess with the cam timing on my K20 so that it "hits hard". I heard high school girls are impressed by that.
