So, i am coming to an end to the road. I have a fully built H23A1 (dohc non vtec). I am looking to make around 400whp, or whatever 18psi will get me to with my sc61.

I have stock cams in there right now, i have Crower Stage 2 Turbo Cams in my possession but that was a purchase made when i wanted this to be a little less agressive... i think i want larger cams.

Stock Duration: Int- 240, Exh-240
Stock Lift: Int- 414, Exh-414

Stage 2 Duration: Int- 245, Exh-245
Stage 2 Lift: Int- 440, Exh-440

Now, i was thinking of buying Crowers stage 3 cams, and not even installing the Stage 2's. Like i said, I want an agressive cam with a nice agressive sound. Here are the specs to the 3's.

Stage 3 Duration: Int- 255, Exh-255
Stage 3 Lift: Int- 451, Exh-451

If you really want to do this right you should put a VTEC head on it. Do you have a baseline power number yet or are you still building the motor?

 

The motor is built and running. i had a turbo kit on the stock motor but that doesnt really account for anything. I dont want a VTEC head. I can make fine power without it. I just want to have a nice agressive set of cams in there.

 

call crower, you are going to have a hard time finding cams for a non-vtec h23. I would say put a vtec head on it and be done. You will have more cams to look at with a vtec head.

 

Crower has cams for the h23. i have a set of stage 2 that i havent even used. they have stage 3's, i just want to know if its worth the upgrade (hence why i posted the specs of the cams, im not sure what im looking at there)

 

hello I know this is a long shot because the thread is so old but would u happen to have a part number on those stage 2 cams and the stage 3 I'm having a very difficult time locating them

 

Crower does not show non-VTEC H23 cams being available at this time... they have likely discontinued them due to the lack of interest/sales. You may try to contact them directly by phone and see if some can be created/cut for you.

 

You could try contacting Jon Bodwell of Delta Camshafts and see if he could do a custom grind on your core.
