Default Gas Reading Question?

Hey I have an 01 ls teg and my gas is always changing its position. For example if I'm near E it will be close at one point then at like a quarter tank later, anyone know the problem?

Does it always go straight to empty when it moves? Maybe you have a loose connection.

Do our cars have floats to determine the level? My el camino used to do that once in a while because I never filled it to the top, but when I did it would be accurate the whole way down.

It doesnt go straight to E, it slowly moves and it does this even on a straight road.
