Default Compustar 2w8000 - LED lights off?

Hi Guys,

I have a compustar 8000 on a 2001 civic si. For whatever reason, the LED lights that flash/blink/whatever and are glued down on my rear view have stopped flashing. They used to flash when my car was armed and off, but I didn't even notice if they were also on while it was unarmed/being driven. What could the reason be? I am worried that because they are not on anymore, the car could not be arming properly....

The 2-way is practically broken too (big crack through it)... So it doesn't always open the doors or auto-start.. And not all the icons (shock sensor, car locked/unlocked, to name a few) work either. But I think this is a seperate issue and I just need to buy a new one..

Also, can anyone guess at where the 'sensitivity switch' is installed? I believe there is some switch that allows you to set how sensitive the shock sensor is..

On top of this, I am not 100% confident that the system is wired properly because button 3, the trunk release, doesn't do just that.

Thanks.

Sounds like the system is in valet mode.
Shock sensor adjustment is on the shock sensor itself.

Also "compustar 8000" I would guess means the 2W8000FMR, which is the model number for the remote control, what is the number on the system brain, should be something like CM3000.

You said, "the LED lights that flash/blink/whatever and are glued down on my rear view have stopped flashing" what exactly do you mean by "they" is there more then one, and what exactly do you mean by "and are glued down"?
Are "they" the stock Compustar, hole mount, LED???

Hey, thanks for your reply.

You are right, the remote model number is 2w8000FMR.

I just bought this car off of a girl last week and I've never had a compustar before so figuring it out has been difficult, especially because the 2-way remote is cracked haha.

By the LED lights, i mean that there is a blue plastic piece with around 6 small LEDs mounted in it that flash or blink (or at least were flashing and blinking last week) when the car is armed. There is a black button on the piece, but pressing it doesn't seem to do anything. I have looked at the compustar website and I don't see it included with any of the remote systems, so I have no idea if it is the stock part or not.. It is just stuck onto the rear view mirror.

What does the brain look like and where should I look? I have read different opinions about this online and I'm kind of confused..

Otherwise, I figured out that button 3 doesn't open the trunk because the 01 civic doesn't come stock with a trunk popper so they must not have had one installed.

Like I said, the icons on the remote don't seem to all work.. for example when I press I+III to turn valet mode on or off the zzzz icon doesn't appear/dissapear.

Thanks...

The LED "scanner" is not a Compustar unit, Compustar alarms come with one LED for the alarm and one in the "RSVP" reciver ant., you may not have that.

The alarm brain can be mounted in many diff. locations, but looks like this... http://www.staub.ca/pdf/manuals/Firs...all_manual.pdf.

Your remote may need programing, go here... http://www.compustar.com/main.htm click on consumer support then on Remote Users Manuals, then on your remote, find remote/pager learn routine and reprogram the remote.
Hint, do this at least 4 times to erase an remotes the previous owner my still have, they came with a 1way back up remote. 94

This is kind of what my LED scanner looks like : http://www.aeolus-online.com/catalog...ystem_259.html

If the lights aren't on anymore it could either be burnt out or the alarm isn't set?..

I'm gonna go look for the brain right now... and I found the manual for the 2w900fmr; when i search for the 2w8000 it brings this one up.. I will try to the learn routine, thanks.
