Default re-assembly stuck in gear? WTH

im stumped yet again. i got everything swapped over (doing an mfactory 4.9 and 3.07 first), and after many tries got the two gear sets and everything set back in the case, and it appears to be stuck in 1st or 2nd gear (the syncro above first is down, so i think thats 1st)

everything spins freely so most of it seems right atleast there is just the resitance of being in gear, and the syncro just seems jammed into this gear, which obviously means i wont be putting it back together yet, since it doesnt just seem like a case of too hard to move by hand. it seemed to move just fine when the gearset was out on the bench (although that may have been before i fully assembled everything on the shaft i cant remember)

any ideas?

i think i actually found the issue. ill suck up my pride and show it so it may help others in the future.

im just a dumbass and made a retarded mistake and mis-assembled the syncro/flipped the assembly somehow, even tho i layed them out in order. but i guess the first time is for learning right?

heres what my countershaft looks like

heres what untouched factory looks like

im 90% sure thats what the issue is. atleast its nothing major...just annoying to fix.

I see what you mean though in the picture. Its the brass synchros above the R gear of your compared to the finished factory being in the middle...

welp...found the issue.

i guess i completely fuggered up how the syncro hub goes in...and however i had it in managed to destroy the 1st gear bronze ring.

luckily a call to gearspeed/syncrotech and i have a new one on the way. hopefully get it by wednesday, since the usps envelope is supposed to take 1-2 days.

hopefully get this all wrapped up wednesday/thursday...i officially managed to make another prooject take 3 times as long as it should...

if this wasnt the first time id done this i would be really really pissed

Well at least you have it all figured out now. I put my transmission back together incorrectly twice before figuring out I switched two hubs once and the other time I had the hub in the wrong spot.

Good to hear, I want a review on this 4.9 fd. If I ever get my car done I will be able to give my own.
