No title should i still buy it
Why is there no title? is the car registered to him or someone else?
You can file for lost title, but make sure that you can get a title somehow before you buy it or your going to just be storing a car that you can't drive.

i didnt think of parting it out, but i know its not stolen because it was given to him by his boss which runs a junk yard of some sort. I just may buy it now and part it out. So anybody need parts for a 2000 integra.
haha trust me, many people do. buy it, put it up in forsale thread, and youll get many pm's. make sure you got lots of good pics of everything here and there. i dont know why but i dont like looking at posts in the for sale thread that doesnt have pics. kinda weird o_0

If you don't have the title you don't own the car. If a junkyard had the car for more than 90 days(due to theft recovery or something like that) and the owner didn't claim it then the junkyard can apply to get a title in their name. But the car has to be COMPLETE 100% and brought to the DMV for an inspection. All replacement parts have to be accounted for with receipts. After that they will issue a new title which can then be signed over to you by the junkyard. It's not impossible but requires some free time for the inspection and patience with the paperwork. I've done it twice if you have any questions.
Without the title you can't register the car because the title is somewhere and in someone else's name according to the DMV. If the car is mint it might be worth the effort. If not I say part it.

what mage182 said is true but it applies to NY state, ILL probally has different title and salvage laws. you might want to try carfaxing the VIN number that should give you some info about why the car ended up in a salvage yard.there are title companys out there that can get titles for cars but to the best of my knowledge that can only be done on cars older than 1974. it sounds like it would be best used for parts, if the remaining parts on the car are in good shape it's worth the $500... good luck!
this isn't a fs thread dude ^. but idk about the title situation. at least get a bill of sale so nothing can come back on you. cover your *** at least a little.
ive talked to the dmv about this many times because i always seem to find good deals on **** with no title. if this guy has no records of ever owning this car, he has no right to sell it in the first place. the person whoever he got it from is still the owner. i would recomend a stolen check if you are gonna part it out, just call the sheriffs office with the vin. otherwise, i wouldnt buy it. it would be absolute hell trying to get this thing regestered without a title
