Default f23a1 motor where f22b2 was...yes, ive searched..

hello all...i have a 1997 accord lx (with the stock f22b2, non-vtec motor/ auto trans), and recently picked up a f23a1 sohc vtec motor from a 1998 accord ex for super cheap. since my car is obd2, and the f23a1 is obd2, will the motor just swap in? what do i have to do to hook-up vtec, where it wasnt before? ive searched countless times, but all i can come up with is people with obd1 cars looking to add a f23...anyone point me in the right direction? how about swapping the head from the f23a1 onto my f22b2 block to add vtec? any help would be appreciated...

an f23 is a bigger engine and will have different engine mounts and different intake a f22b1 vtec will be almost bot in as it is just a vtec f22b2

to add vtec u need to add an oil line to the valve cover look into frankenstine acura integra engines for ideas on adding vtec to non vtec engines

well first you have a non vtec engine and ecu. second youll need a vtec ecu and custom mounts. you will have to wire up vtec once you get the ecu

the F23 isn't physically bigger... it's essentially a larger bore, longer stroke version of the F22B1. I don't think the mount's will be different either... if anything the F22B2 mounts could be swapped over to the F23 block. the main concerns with this swap would be adding wiring for VTEC and coming up with a solution for the non-adjustable distributor on the F23.

Like I mentioned above, likely only wiring for VTEC would be needed. No oil lines or anything... just a few wires and a compatible ECU.

You really need to stop posting before doing more research. Almost all of this is false.

Yeop.

F/H series engines are of the same family. Biggest difference is most F series are SOHC, and all H series are DOHC. Dimensionally the blocks are the same externally, with the exception of the SH-ATTS block.
Most of the needed changes have been documented in the FAQ at the top of the page.

Hi guys
so I have a 97 Honda accord coupe so its obd2
3 years ago my f22b2 dead so I swap with the jdm f23a
so I'm running everything from f22

so I'm decided to run wiring for vtec
What stuff do I need to make vtec work
I know I have to run wiring from vtec solenoid
To ecu and oil pressure switch
can I used a f22b1 ecu I have auto tranny??
I'm using the f22 thermostat neck so I have the thermoswitch b
For other guys
I'm using all my f22b2 motor mounts I just swap the driver side braket from f22 to f23 bolt on right
