f23a1 motor where f22b2 was...yes, ive searched..
hello all...i have a 1997 accord lx (with the stock f22b2, non-vtec motor/ auto trans), and recently picked up a f23a1 sohc vtec motor from a 1998 accord ex for super cheap. since my car is obd2, and the f23a1 is obd2, will the motor just swap in? what do i have to do to hook-up vtec, where it wasnt before? ive searched countless times, but all i can come up with is people with obd1 cars looking to add a f23...anyone point me in the right direction? how about swapping the head from the f23a1 onto my f22b2 block to add vtec? any help would be appreciated...
an f23 is a bigger engine and will have different engine mounts and different intake a f22b1 vtec will be almost bot in as it is just a vtec f22b2
to add vtec u need to add an oil line to the valve cover look into frankenstine acura integra engines for ideas on adding vtec to non vtec engines

Like I mentioned above, likely only wiring for VTEC would be needed. No oil lines or anything... just a few wires and a compatible ECU.

F/H series engines are of the same family. Biggest difference is most F series are SOHC, and all H series are DOHC. Dimensionally the blocks are the same externally, with the exception of the SH-ATTS block.
Most of the needed changes have been documented in the FAQ at the top of the page.
