emergancy, mixing 89 dx and Si...
kid has a wrecked 89 dx runs.... has a good 89 Si, but blown motor. he had planned on being an idiot and putting the dx block and head into the Si and changing all the wiring.
how hard would it be to use the dx block, head, flywheel, tranny and axels, the Si clutch, intake manifold, ecu, and my d16z6 exhaust manifold(stock one). what kinda wire mess or problem might i run into? i am thinking something to do with dizzy....HELP, doing it all wednesday 8-21-02 thanks

Hahah.. What you're doing is actually easier than you're making it out to be. Basically, everything will bolt up and depending on if you're going t from the DX to SI or vise versa, would dictate on wiring difficulty.
The easiest thing to do would be to replace the broken parts in the Si witht he parts of the DX, provided none of them have to do with the intake manifold, or fuel system. Otherwise, everything will work out nicely. Should only take a day or so.

it is a completely bolt in swap. use the dx head and block and the si intake manifold, distro and ecu the clutches are the same. There will be no wiring changes with this combo. it will basically be a dx with a factory mpfi swap. email me if you have any more specific questions and i became quite familiar with this stuff when i z6'd my dx

ok, the kid doesn't know much about the cars...i have swapped the z6 in my dx. he doesn't have any $$ to spend to fix his Si motor. so he already has yanked it out, and has the dx out of the other car. he had the 89 dx, wrecked it, bought the Si, drove it for a week, stopped running. needs an O ring and the timing needs to be re-done. so it isn't cranking. he said it was using oil too? didn't feel like getting in the engine to fix it so thought it would be easier to swap
so he wanted to just change over all the mpfi -> dpfi. i told him to just use the Si intake manifold to skip all the wire hassel and still have some power. i know on about everything that it will all work, the only thing i was wondering....
changing the dizzy. when we swap out the entire distributor, put the Si on the dx head (cuz it is going into a 89 Si), am i going to have an issue with timing? will i need a timing light to get it to crank and run? that is the only thing i am unsure about? thanks..

one more thing.....they are both red, and after we get the Si running, he told me he would sell me both of them and everything he has for em for a nice price.., so i believe i will have two more red crx's. i plan to take all the good body peices from the dx and put em on the Si to make it look nicer. clean it up alot. tinker here and there. make the best car i can from both.....and sell it.body is almost perfect now, acouple dings that will be replaced by the other cars fenders....paint isn't even faded bad...ha i love it. any body interested...comes with crx Si wheels, and some nice old skool rice 16 or 17" chrome tri-stars haha....and possably my home made cat back that is currently on my rex...
you need a timing light to set the timing but that is a given anytime you mess with the distributor . there will be no physical problems with being able to get the distro to mount to the dx head and getting timing to stock
