clunk/pop noise from rear when pulling out
it's been going on for a month or two. but almost all the time when i pull out from a stop and sometimes even going from 1st to 2nd i get a clunk/pop noise from the rear of my s2000. it seems like it's coming more from the right rear but could be wrong. i checked all the mounts and changed the rear diff fluid and used a paint filter to strain the fluid and it was squeaky clean. any ideas guys?

I had a few s2000's come into the shop with a pop from the right rear, ended up being the lower rear ball joint.
its a pain, b/c you cant get that ball joint separate, it comes attached to the rear knuckle.
if you can get the car on a 4post lift, put a pry bar between the LCA and the knuckle, if the joint is bad you will be able to move it. if the weight is off the joint its harder to see.

axle nuts tend to knock every revolution when loose (trust me). I suspect a bad axle.

This tool is the best for removing the ball joints. Pittman arm pullers won't fit, and forks are just bohemian. This one comes in from the side and works better than anything else I've used.
