Default 98 spec Type R cams VS. 00-01 type R cams

okay i am about to purchase some 98 spec type R cams for my gs-r engine. BUt i was wondering if the 00-01 type r cams were better?? I heard that some cases people say you can almost compare 00-01 type r cams to civic type R cams. Are the 00-01 cam shafts really better then the 98 spec type r cams??

I'll be gentle because your going to be told to do a search. ( top left corner of your screen) But yes, the 00-01 ITR cams are different that the 97-98 cams. I can't comfirm, but the 00-01 are similar if not the same as CTR.

I have heard the 00-01 ITR cams are very close, if not, the same as CTR cams.

What he said...

Matt: Thanks for the input yesterday. I appreciate it, my best was a 35.4 or something along those lines, not great, but not bad for my first time out. That and my tires are garbage, someone said that it wouldn't even be safe to track the car with these tires on.... Your car looks great BTW.

i heard 00-01 itr cams are a little more aggressive than the 97-98 itr's due to stricter emmissions in 2000-2001, thats how they still make 195 hp stock.

so don't worry about it, they're both still making 195.

They are pretty much the same. The 2000/2001 are a litte more aggressive (same as CTR).

Integra Type R(Through 1999)
Int-240 dur. / 11.5mm lift
Exh-235 dur. / 10.5mm lift

Civic Type R And Integra Type R( 2000/01)
Int-243 dur. / 11.5mm lift
Exh-235 dur. / 10.5mm lift

The 00-01 exhaust cam is identical to CTR cam. The CTR cam is a little more aggresive then the 00-01 ITR, like a few hundreths lift, and a pretty decent amount over the 97-98 cams. Just get a Jun II and ITR exhaust cam. Check out the "great camshaft test" for more details.

Look at ClubSi.com for the B-Series Cam Guide. The cam guide there shows the specs for the CTR and the ITR cams. By looking at the specs you will see that the 00-01 ITR intake cam and the 00-01 ITR exhaust cam have the same specs as the CTR intake and exhaust cams. The 97-98 ITR intake cam has 3 degrees less duration than the 00-01 ITR and CTR but the 97-98 ITR exhaust cam has the same specs as the 00-01 ITR and CTR exhaust cam.

I would get either the 00-01 ITR intake cam or the CTR intake cam. My brother has the CTR intake cam in his 99 Gsr and it screams when it reaches vtec.
