What power converter is best for me?
I want to get a power converter so I can power a playstation 2 and possibly other devices such as a psp charger, cell phone charger, etc. in my car.I was thinking a Endurance power inverter would be good...but I don't know how many watts I'll require to run a ps2 and other small devices.
Also,I'm not running anything too powerful but I have a 2x100w amp pushing 2 subs and a in-dash tv...
So my questions are:
1.What power converter would be best for me?
2.Would I risk over loading the alternator by running a power converter with a ps2?
(car is a 93 civic dx with stock alternator)

Best way to found out the wattage/current is to ask the companies that make those devices or use a multimeter and measure the current draw from the devices. Just remember that some devices draw low current at times and higher current at other times when they're fully loaded so take that into consideration.
Also, watch out for power inverters' ratings. It might say max 500 watts for example but that is the maximum power that it can handle for a short period of time (a few seconds to a minute) and the actual power is can handle safely for extended periods of time is usually half of that; so for a 500W inverter, that would be 250W.
As for overloading the alternator, you'll have to try and see. If stuff doesn't work that means you're not getting enough current and will require a higher output alternator. Or again, you can measure the current draw before installing your toys and find out how much current the stock can handle and go from there.

i think another battery for the amp with a cap maybe and a high output alternator should be fine...charging you psp and cellphone don't take much the only thing is your ps2 might take a bit of power but i think you'll be fine with 2 batteries and a high output alternator if not then upgrade the battery to some optimas or something...
