Default Accord Newbie..... Check engine light help???

Hi all,

I know that the civics have that green thing you can jump to check and see what kind of code the car is throwing when the check engine light comes on.

Does the Accord have the same thing??

Thanks.

Under the dash on the passenger side is a plastic holder that has a blue 2 pin plastic connecter plugged into it. Pull it out of the holder and take a piece of wire and short the 2 connection together. This will immediately cause the check engine light to start flashing. The codes are in the double digits ... so... long flashes are the 10 spot.. and short flashes are the single digit spot...

ie.. if the long flashes equal 2 and the short flashes equal something like 5 then the code is 25.

Of course your ignition needs to be in the on position for anything to happen.

I would recommend you disconnect you battery cable for like 5 min. then reconnect.. let your car idle for like 5 min. without touching the throttle or anything... turn it off then back on again and see what happens. If the CEL comes on again... read the code with the above procedure and check Haynes, chilton, honda or helms manual for the code explanation. Then go from there...

good luck.
